Bakewell is situated in the county of Derbyshire, England
Located on the river Wye, Bakewell is an old market town is in the heart of the Peak District in Derbyshire.
Famous for it's Bakewell Pudding which is not to
be confused with a Bakewell tart!
Bakewell received it's royal charter as a market town in 1330.
The town has a long and fascinating history; mentioned in the Domes Day Book of 1085,`Badequella’
meaning Bath-well.
Bakewell Parish Church, a Grade I listed building, was founded in 920 and has a 9th century cross
in the churchyard.
The Peak District traditional "well dressing" takes place during June in which colourful images
made of petals embedded into clay appear at several places throughout the town.
